Project objective

The objective of the project is to carry out the substantive activities of the Sectoral Council for Skills in IT, Telecommunications and Cybersecurity (Sektorowa Rada ds. Kompetencji IT, Telekomunikacja i Cyberbezpieczeństwo — SRKITCB), which support aligning the education system with the needs of the labour market in the sector.

The Council focuses on:

  • identifying skills gaps,
  • analysing qualification and occupational needs,
  • initiating cooperation between education and business.

The IT, telecommunications and cybersecurity sector (ITCB) is a key area of the modern economy, based on innovation and digital technologies.

The solutions developed within this sector support people with disabilities and promote social inclusion by removing barriers to access to education and employment.

The activities of the project “Sectoral Council for Skills in IT, Telecommunications and Cybersecurity”, implemented by the Polish Information Processing Society (Polskie Towarzystwo Informatyczne), are addressed to all stakeholders in the IT, telecommunications and cybersecurity sector, including:

  • entrepreneurs, their employees and job candidates,
  • providers of ICT products and services (hardware, software, integration, IT infrastructure management),
  • companies providing cybersecurity services (audits, consulting, penetration testing, etc.),
  • training and educational institutions,
  • users of products and services in the ICT sector,
  • industry organisations, social partners and public administration.

Council composition

The Council includes representatives of:

  • enterprises and employers’ organisations from the IT, telecommunications and cybersecurity sector,
  • formal and non-formal education institutions,
  • trade unions,
  • Voivodeship Labour Market Councils,
  • institutions performing regulatory or supervisory functions,
  • professional associations,
  • other entities important for skills development in the sector (e.g. labour market observatories, industry organisations).

Council members act voluntarily and on equal terms, working together to develop competencies in the IT, telecommunications and cybersecurity sector.

Experience and continuity

The Sectoral Council for Skills in IT, Telecommunications and Cybersecurity, run by the Polish Information Processing Society, draws on the experience of earlier initiatives implemented by PTI in partnership with the Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications, namely:

  • the Sectoral Council for Skills — Informatics (operating 2016–2023),
  • the Sectoral Council for Skills — Telecommunications and Cybersecurity (operating 2019–2023).
